Metabolism boosting meals

Metabolism is the way in which living things including human beings maintain the living state of their cells. It is a chemical process. This means that they require energy to perform this function which they get from the food they eat. The food we eat dictates the rate of metabolism in our bodies. This means that we should watch out for what we eat so as to maintain a healthy living. Though exercise is important in determining our metabolism rate, food plays the major role as it gives us the energy to see us through the day. Therefore, it is important to be aware of what one actually eats as it determines the amount of energy we are going to have in our bodies to carry out the activities we are required to. The following are examples of metabolism boosting meals that are important.


Proteins are the foods that help build our bodies. Proteins also build our body muscle and that is important as it gives us body mass. Foods rich in protein burn as twice calories compared to what other foods burn, for example, fats and carbohydrates. Therefore eating proteins regularly will help boost your body’s metabolism rate. Proteins that are high metabolism boosters are egg whites, low fat meals, nuts, poultry, fish and others

Green tea

Green tea contains mostly caffeine and catechins that act as metabolism boosters. These two properties help burn extra calories in a short time. This means that drinking a cup of green tea daily will improve the rate at which calories in your body are burned.

Vitamins and minerals

The basic vitamins and minerals that we consume in our typical daily meals include vitamin, A, B, C, D, E ,magnesium, calcium, zinc and iron. These alongside some antioxidants are enough to meet our body’s daily nutritional requirements. However there are other vitamin and mineral supplements that can be included in our meals that will enhance our metabolism rates. Examples include, chromium. It helps increase the metabolic rate by working with insulin to ensure that nutrients in the blood are available to the cells for energy.


Coffee like green tea contains caffeine. It is known to burn the fats in our bodies thus improving the metabolic rate in our bodies. A cup of quality coffee will therefore help keep away the unwanted fats in our bodies.

In conclusion, it is important to increase the intake of foods that help boost the metabolism rate in our bodies as this keeps us to stay in good shape and health.
